I've put the seedlings to bed with sheets and blankets a few times this week as a precaution.
The 10-day forecast looks good! They should be fine now with lows hovering around 40°F. They're just starting to show themselves!
This is the brand of emergency canned non-hybred seeds I use:

It's rather sad that it's much warmed on the peninsula in WA than here in TX where I'm at right now. I love your greenhouse Heidi and can't wait to see how things grow in there. Stay warm y'all :)
ReplyDeleteYour babies are delightful. Look forward to watching them grow up. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little jealous of your planting and seedlings. I tried growing things when I first moved back to AZ, but gave up after a few attempts. I'm looking into micro greens, for when I go full-time.

Oh I'm green with envy*wink* We'll be starting ours mid month. I too have seeds that are 3-4 yrs old and still have a viability rate of 85% or more :o) It's like money in the bank!
ReplyDeleteHappy growing you lucky duck you!( you're digging in the dirt already)
Blessings,
Kelle
Remi, I understand! The weather was better when we got home than it was when we were in AZ.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pidge... you stay warm too!
Cyndi, I've done lots of sprouting in my van before. I also used shrink wrap on the windows to create another greenhouse in my old van. You can certainly have a garden in a van! Micro greens will be great!
Kelle, your turn is coming! Spring is right around the corner!
I'm happy to hear that you're using three year old seeds! I saved a lot more seed last year, and am hoping to increase my collection this year. Your seedlings look so good. I have cabbage seedlings starting to sprout. Can't wait to get others going!
